Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd Refurbishment
Project details
Organisation - Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd
Sector - Private
Location - Wolverhampton, West Midlands
Project scope
Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd (previously Ansaldo NES) specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of customised solutions for the nuclear decommissioning, defence, and nuclear new build markets.
Following a detailed tender process in which BCL Office Moving conducted a full technical survey to establish full move requirements we provided a methodical proposal providing a breakdown in services, costs and schedules. BCL were delighted to be chosen as their preferred supplier and went straight to work with a follow up meeting to fine tune the schedule and implement added value to the overall project specification.
Our key tasks
Ansaldo Nuclear Ltd conducted a refurbishment programme over four floors. Our tasks were performed over three phases, in line with the refurbishment programme of works.
-
Internal transfer of all office furniture including desks, storage, and associated equipment
-
600 packing crates for files and paperwork
-
260 desktop set-ups
The Challenges
Emphasis during the planning stages were to eliminate too many double moves, scheduling teams to move to their final position as much as possible throughout – challenging at times as the refurb was completed floor by floor.
During the first phase, the majority of furniture was put into on site storage and staff moving to a duel desk working environment. Bulk filing and storage was also removed to allow larger working footprints to accommodate staff.
As each floor had undergone the full refurbishment, the re-stacking of furniture, equipment, and staff to their final position was completed reusing furniture from storage where required.
Project management and planning were the key to success
The move was a challenging project. However, due to methodical planning it was completed on time, to budget, and without disruption to the business throughout as it was completed during out of hours and weekend working.
