GMMH contacted BCL at relatively short notice to see if we could assist them with the relocation to their brand new mental health hospital in Crumpsall. The project was daunting for the staff due to the scale of it so we quickly jumped into action and started the planning process.
The move came with added complexities as the patients were being transferred at the same time. The hospital required all patient belongings to be moved prior to the patients so that they had their items upon arrival, this was complicated as we were moving 3 wards a day with a specific and limited time window per ward. Leveraging our experience, we provided GMMH with practical guidance on the realistic amount that could be moved within a specific timeframe.
Upon completion of the move BCL were tasked with clearing all the furniture and equipment from the old hospital within one week. This was a huge task within a limited time window. All furniture was recycled through the trust's approved waste channels, making sure as much wood and metal was processed separately.
Both the move and clearance was completed to customer satisfaction whilst under time pressures.
