Project Scope

Manage the installation of furniture in 335 apartments from receiving, organising and storing stock to delivering to site, unboxing, assembling and positioning the furniture within the apartments.

Key Tasks

  • Receive deliveries from overseas and national suppliers

  • Store the furniture by item, size and colour

  • Deliver the furniture to site according to a weekly project schedule

  • Assemble the furniture from a mostly flat-packed state

  • Position the furniture within the apartments according to a design plan

  • Remove waste from site and recycle accordingly

TEN is an international Interior Architecture & Design House specialising in the Residential, Hospitality, and Commercial sectors. We have worked with TEN on many amenity space installations in the past and we were their trusted partner to work with them on this large scale project installing furniture into a new Build-To-Rent (BTR) apartment block.

At BCL, we already had experience managing a furniture installation project of this size and therefore we were able to quickly mobilise a tried and tested solution for TEN. 

We were able to offer storage within Manchester close to the project and also an additional warehouse in Birmingham for any stock overflow. There were 4200 items of both flat-pack and pre-assembled furniture shipped to both locations where we organised it by item, size and colour so that we could easily pick the requested items each week.

The project took place in one phase over 12 weeks, we had a weekly target of between 25-30 units which were requested by the developer. A relationship was quickly built with the building manager so any issues on site could be quickly dealt with without involving our client unnecessarily.

A seemingly daunting task when faced with the prospect of assembling 1,127 bedside tables, 581 ottoman beds, 226 chest of drawers and many other items, however with the right planning and implementation we successfully completed the project to our customers overwhelming satisfaction.
